Hydraluron Moisture Booster Serum and Peptalash Eyelash Serum - both £29.99 and available at Boots. |
So I was reading Caroline, my favourite beauty expert's blog, and she did a post about the Hydraluron serum by Indeed Labs. (You can click here to visit her blog, she is a skin specialist so it's great to see what she thinks about products!) She wrote about the serum in one of her 'Hall of Fame' posts, dedicated to products that she thinks are outstanding and deserve recognition. So seeing as she hadn't done one of those posts for 9 months!, I knew that this serum had to be something special.
After reading the review, I went straight to Boots online to order it but it was sold out! They did come back in stock a day or two later though and I ordered it then. Caroline said she used the serum for 3 days and decided to put it in the hall of fame, impressive! So what does this serum do?
Caroline explains what the serum does really well, so I will paraphrase it and explain:
It is designed to hydrate your skin and utilises your moisturiser more so that it is more effective at hydrating your skin. It does this by using Hyaluronic acid, which can absorb 1000x it's weight in water, meaning that when you put your moisturiser on top, it helps the water and moisture to stay in your skin for longer, keeping you really hydrated. This was such an important factor for me because although I have combination/oily skin, it is dehydrated. I believe that the dehydration of my skin is causing it to over produce oil and I think it is because of the weather we're having at the moment too. Hyaluronic acid also increases healing time and provides a lower risk of bacteria on the skin. So if you suffer from acne or spots this is great for you.
It doesn't have lots of unecessary ingredients like many serums do which is great, it's full of the necessary stuff with no nasties added in, making me confident to put this on my skin.
I have only been using this serum for a few days but my god, when I looked at my face in the mirror halfway through the day, I couldn't believe how different it looked. My skin looked really plumped up and glowing but not shiny one bit, it was rather odd actually as I usually have to powder at least once a day to stay semi-matte looking.
I will do a proper review on this once I have been using it for longer but I have to say, its been great so far. Admittedly I wish it was in a bigger tube, but for a serum that really, really works, £24.99 for 30ml is better than paying £100+ for a fancy serum that is filled with lots of parabens and chemicals that might not produce the same results, and I would happily, happily repurchase. Plus, the tiny little tube is so cute and transportable, and I will no doubt be using this in-flight when I jet off on holiday Saturday, as the plane notoriously strips the skins moisture and leaves my skin dehydrated. (Stay tuned for my 'What am I taking on holiday?' post!! Coming soon.)
Boots currently have an offer on: If you buy the Hydraluron, Nanoblur or Snoxin, you get a free Peptalash Eyelash Serum worth £24.99.
The serum claims to thicken and lengthen eyelashes with visible results in just 2 weeks - I am slightly sceptic however I will let you all know how I get on! The thought of having long, luscious eyelashes is just too good to be true!
So on face value, Indeed Labs seem to have some impressive products - I am worried that I won't be able to get my hands on the Hydraluron for much longer as it is exclusive to Boots. Hopefully it sells well and they keep it permanently!
